What happens after you send a note

Private first. Public only with a separate, specific yes.

Your note has a path

Sending a note is a private suggestion to one independent host, not a public post. Email is optional. Without a reply address, the host cannot ask questions or request your permission to publish your words.

  1. Received by NetlifyIf form detection is enabled and the service accepts it, your note appears in the site's private Forms inbox. A success page by itself does not prove delivery.
  2. Checked by the hostThe host screens for safety, useful sources, the right audience, and whether another organization already handles the matter. The host may decline it or ask for clarification.
  3. Handled privatelyWhere practical the host may respond using an email you voluntarily provided. A reply is not guaranteed; this is not an urgent-help service.
  4. Permission requested separatelyBefore publishing anything attributed to you, the host asks exactly what words or details may appear, how you would be credited (or not), where they would appear, and how long they remain. The form's permission choice is only an invitation to ask—not consent to publish.
  5. Published, referred, declined, or closedApproved public information may become an attributed resource card with a date and correction route. A source may be linked without republishing someone's private words. Unapproved material stays private and is not displayed.

What is never automatic?

Publication

No message or personal detail becomes a public discussion, archive item, or directory listing by sending a form.

Help or attendance

The Commons does not promise an introduction, service, event, referral, emergency response, or a reply by a deadline.

Retention and removal

Netlify stores submissions in the site's owner-managed account. This build has no automatic deletion. The host's working routine is to check the inbox regularly, remove spam and unnecessary sensitive details promptly, and review unneeded submissions for deletion during a monthly cleanup. The operational target is to close or remove ordinary private notes within 90 days of resolution; unresolved items receive a further review, with a 180-day limit as a working target unless there is a documented, continuing reason to retain them. These are manual targets, not an automatically enforced retention guarantee.

You may request a correction, deletion or withdrawal of a public contribution through Institute contact. Identify the page or approximate submission date without repeating sensitive details. The host may need to verify that you are authorized to make the request. Changes on this website cannot recall copies already shared elsewhere.

For details of your rights under Netlify's service, see Netlify form submissions documentation. Submissions should not contain medical, legal, financial, children's, private family, or restricted cultural records.

If you need to correct something

Use the Institute correction record for public inaccuracies, or contact the host to ask about a private submission. The host currently makes moderation decisions alone; there is no independent appeals body. You can ask for reconsideration, and the reason for a public correction should be recorded without exposing your private contact information.

When the host is unavailable, intake may be paused through a dated site update. Never depend on the Commons for time-sensitive help.

Independent and limited. This process is for the Institute's own Commons. It does not create authority over Tribal, band, family, or other organizations' projects.
