It identifies the claim doing the work, tests whether the claim can carry the weight placed on it, protects contexts the Institute has no right to process, and ends with a bounded finding and a next action.
Current control status. Adopted for Institute release review on August 19, 2026. Working controlled standard; not externally validated.
The standard applies to substantive Institute-controlled public releases and material revisions. The depth of review should match the burden, risk, authority, and possible harm of the claim.
Identify the load-bearing claim, its type, its presuppositions, what supports it, what would break it, and what remains uncertain.
Check whether the Institute has standing to make or use the claim. Access does not create authority, consent, cultural permission, or a right to disclose.
State limits, assign a bounded finding, make the next action usable, and leave a visible route for material correction.
Governing rule. Answerability governs the finding. Protection governs the conduct. Presentation governs the usable form.
Research argument, source function, citation integrity, artifact access, neighboring work, domain friction, benchmarks, and external comparison where a readiness or validation claim requires them.
Classify material AI use, check venue or institutional policy, verify AI-generated claims and sources, preserve human-executable operation, and keep human final judgment responsible for closure.
Do not simulate professional, legal, tribal, cultural, community, or other authority the runner does not hold. Refer or stop when the required standing is outside the Institute.
Check whether the finding is understandable without false certainty, whether the stated status matches the evidence, and whether a stricter unresolved label controls.
The core and operator package remain separate because they carry different version identities. The core states the minimum method. The operator package assembles the v1.5 gates, worksheets, failure modes, benchmarks, and human-executable rules.
The Audit: From Coherence to Answerability is Christopher Knorr’s authored scholarly argument. It has its own authorship, publication status, and correction history. The Long Meanwhile is scheduled to open September 25, 2026 as its eventual publication home. Until then, the Institute links to the current Long Return paper doorway rather than distributing a competing copy.
It is not a truth machine, court, tribal authority, professional reviewer, literature-review engine, or substitute for expertise, consent, standing, or governed knowledge. A pass-like label cannot erase an unresolved gate.
