## Controlled components

### Core method

- **Public filename:** `the-audit-core-v0-6-dev.md`
- **SHA-256:** `db23f442cdef09f5088bc0822b9e4ea9e66c2f3782dc94712d72b993e2d6a6d8`
- **Role:** states the minimum visible method, governing distinctions, core workflow, limits, and next-action requirement.

### Operator package

- **Version:** v1.5
- **Package date:** July 9, 2026
- **Public filename:** `the-audit-operator-package-v1-5.md`

## Release rule

The Audit applies to substantive Institute-controlled public releases and material revisions. Review depth is triggered by the burden, risk, authority, evidence need, protected context, possible harm, and closure claim of the work.

The minimum visible record identifies:

1. the load-bearing claim;
2. applicable triggers and gates;
3. the perimeter of what the review could not establish;
4. reasoning and authority limits;
5. a bounded finding; and
6. the next action.

Possible outcomes include release, bounded release, repair, hold, referral, handoff, or stop. No operator may manufacture missing evidence, consent, standing, expertise, cultural authority, professional authority, or protected knowledge.

## Relationship to the scholarly paper

Christopher Knorr's paper *The Audit: From Coherence to Answerability* is an independent scholarly argument. It informs the method but is not this Institute-controlled release. The Institute does not distribute a duplicate paper PDF. The current paper doorway is:

`https://thelongreturn.org/works/the-audit.html`

After The Long Meanwhile launches, the paper will move to its final publication home and the doorway will be preserved.

## Correction and change control

- Public correction record: `https://institute.thelongreturn.org/corrections.html`
- Error and version reports: `https://institute.thelongreturn.org/contact.html`
- A material change to the core method, operator package, governing scope, or closure rules requires a new version or release-record entry.
- Earlier source files remain historical records; they are not silently relabeled as the current controlled component.

## Authority boundary

The Audit is not a truth machine, court, tribal authority, professional reviewer, literature-review engine, or substitute for domain expertise. The Long Return Institute and Christopher Knorr do not speak for the Pit River Tribe, any of its autonomous bands, or Native peoples collectively.
